Chuck Ackerman

20+ years keeping enterprise fleets on the road. Three books making sure the tech industry doesn't forget how it got here.

Professional problem-solver. Accidental historian.

I've spent 20+ years at Element Fleet Management helping drivers, fleet administrators, and enterprise clients navigate complex systems — from accident response and roadside assistance in the early days, to full-stack platform support using Salesforce, ServiceNow, and Five9 today. I've been fully remote since 2019 and I genuinely enjoy the challenge of solving problems for people who are often frustrated before they ever call.

On the side, I write books. Not self-help, not fiction — I write about the companies and events that shaped how we live, shop, and interact. The brands that defined an era. The retail giants that rose, stumbled, and disappeared. The kind of stories that get quietly buried when a company goes bankrupt or a trend fades out of the news cycle. My writing combines historical research with a look at the human side of corporate life — because behind every balance sheet, there were people in red shirts keeping the lights on.

Outside of work and writing, I'm a movie buff with a custom home theater setup and a standing seat on a podcast panel that debates whether certain films qualify as art or something considerably less flattering. I'll leave it at that.
